Spikes on the road

Designed with passion

On the way to Nine Mile one day, just coming over the hills past Lake Leake, I had stop to get this little guy off the road.

He was a stubborn customer, and I didn’t want to pick him up, so I had to give him a few nudges with my boot (which, as much as I didn’t want to do it, knew was better for him than the next car to come up the road).   Fortunately he eventually got the idea and decided to shuffle off into the undergrowth on the side of the road.

That wasn’t the the first or last time I’ve seen an echidna near the house.  That one stretch of road I’ve seen them a few times.  …and thought I’ve seen them lots more.   There seems to be a lot of little low grass tufts on that stretch of road that look a LOT like echidnas.  The perfect camouflage.
